A large-scale drug trafficking investigation involving Clinton County and four other counties resulted in the seizure of $400,000 worth of drugs and almost $300,000 in cash.

On Tuesday morning, investigators from Clinton, Fayette, Clark, Ross and Highland county sheriff’s offices served narcotic search warrants at two residences inside of a Brookside Mobile Home Park in Clark County. Investigators recovered approximately five kilos of methamphetamine, two kilos of cocaine, 25 pounds of marijuana, and several different types of narcotic pills, all totaling a street value of approximately $400,000.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, an additional $282,618 in cash and several personal assets “acquired from ill-gotten gains were recovered from inside the residences.”

As a result of this several month-long investigation and the results of the search warrants, four individuals were charged and appeared in Clark County Municipal Court Wednesday morning, according to the Springfield News-Sun.

William L. Ferrell, 50, is charged with four counts of trafficking in drugs, four counts of possession of drugs and having weapons under disability. His bond was set at $1 million.

Kaira K. Kintz, 33, is charged with four counts of trafficking drugs, four counts of possession of drugs and having weapons under disability. Her bond was also set at $1 million, according to the News-Sun.

Chelsea L. Lane and Jessica R. Duncan were charged with possession of drugs. Their bonds were set at $100,000.

All suspects were booked into the Clark County Jail.

“This is what happens when law enforcement gets together,” Lt. Chris Clark from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said, according to the News-Sun report. “We get stuff done.”

Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth said this is an ongoing investigation that began in August. He said this was a cooperative effort between the sheriff’s offices, the Clark County Vice and Organized Crime Task Force, and the US 23 Crime Task Force.

“These types of investigations don’t operate in a vacuum,” said Stanforth. “An operation of this magnitude requires a much broader approach and this was a great cooperative effort that allowed us to tap into a lot of resources. It was a very significant operation and it’s still ongoing.”
