ADAMS TOWNSHIP – Clinton-Massie sophomore Thomas Myers poured in 30 points Tuesday to help the Falcons sting the Monroe Hornets 71-54 in non-league boys basketball action at the Lebanon Road gym.

“He could just make them from everywhere tonight,” CM head coach Todd Cook said. “You could see the look in his eye. Once he made first couple, it was like ‘Give me the ball.’ He hit short-range jumpers and a three. Just a great performance.”

Myers only had four points in a first quarter that featured five lead changes and ended with a 6-0 Massie spurt and 19-14 advantage.

He heated up in the second quarter with 11 points, eight of them in the first four minutes that contributed to a 16-3 Falcon run that put the hosts up 29-17. Myers later hit a three that gave CM its largest lead of the first half, 37-20.

Myers had six in the third quarter. His 20th point put Massie up 54-32 with 20 seconds left in the period.

The Falcons (8-12) led by as much as 60-35 early in the final quarter. Myers had nine in the quarter before exiting the game at the 2:41 mark.

Griffin Cook came off the bench for 11 points. Nick Chowning contributed likewise.

“We’re getting better. We’re beginning to understand the team aspect a little bit more,” Cook said of his Falcons, who are 7-4 after a 1-8 start. “We’re seeing the open guy. We did a good job hitting outside shots and going inside.”

Lawrence Puleo led the Hornets (9-12) with 17 points, including five three-pointers.
