LEES CREEK — After struggling at the plate in recent outings, the Clinton-Massie softball team pounded out 17 hits in an 18-1 win over East Clinton in South Central Ohio League action Wednesday afternoon.

The win puts the Lady Falcons at 6-0 in the SCOL.

“We came out hitting the ball like we know how,” CM coach Anthony Lauer said. “The last couple games we have struggled at the plate. Very pleased with our overall team effort.”

Madilyn Newton slugged a three-run homerun in the second inning and finished with four runs batted in. Taylor Florea scored four runs and Jessica Asher scored four times and drove in four runs.

Florea picked up the win on the mound, pitching three hitless innings. Claire Carruthers hurled the final two innings to close out the win for Massie.
