Inspections: Repeat notices for one store; another with mouse droppings in a creamer

WILMINGTON — The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

The following restaurants or food service establishments were inspected recently and violations/comments include:

• Food Mart, 149 W. Washington St., Sabina, May 31. Follow-up. There is no thermometer in the Hebco reach-in cooler. Unit inside temperature was 45°F. All refrigeration units must have thermometers to ensure unit is working properly and food is being held at proper temperature. (3rd Notice.) There are four nonworking lights in the reach-in cooler. (3rd Notice.) The cabinet door under the Monster cooler is broken. There is trash on the floor of the walk-in cooler. The cabinet is broken and coming apart by handwashing sink and Pepsi machine. All parts of the facility must b kept clean. (3rd Notice.) All equipment and dry goods stored in front of store not being used. All unnecessary items must be removed from the facility for ease of cleaning. (3rd Notice.)

Note: This is the 3rd notice on all violations. These violations must be corrected by follow-up inspection (June 24) to avoid any further action by the licensor.

• J&S Petro, 7111 SR 73 W, Wilmington, May 26. Follow-up #2. Critical: Mouse droppings found in cabinet below beverage equipment. Observed a single-portion creamer chewed through with a mouse dropping in it.

The following require correction: Verification demonstrating employees are informed when to report illness unavailable. Front doors are propped open. Exterior openings shall be protected from entry of pests. Observed dust on candy bars in front of register.

Follow-up: June 2.

• Caesar Creek BP, 7126 SR 73, Wilmington. May 26. Follow-up #2.Critical: Muse droppings found in cabinet below Pepsi fountain. Area needs cleaned and monitored for pset activity. Move pump/tubing to clean all of cabinet.

The following require correction: Level 2 food protection certification unavailable.

• The Outpost, 3992 SR 730, Wilmington. May 25. No employee in facility is currently Class II food safety certified. PIC says he is signed up for next class. there were dishes stacked in hand sink, Hand sink is for handwashing only.

• J&D’s Market, 4205 SR 22 & 3, Wilmington. May 25. There are 5 lights out in reach-in cooler. The door handles of the reach-in, in the kitchen, are dirty with debris.

• Midland 1st Stop, 126 Cuba Ave., Midland. May 24. Wiping cloths by coffee pot and handwashing sink not stored in sanitizer solution. There is a light not working in walk-in cooler. there is soda syrup under floor of boxes in back room. There is unpainted/unfinished wood in dry storage room on wall.

• United Dairy Farmers, 211 W. Main St., Blanchester. May 24. the following violations have been corrected: 3.4, 4.4, 4.5 and 6.4. Thank you! The cabinets behind the counter there are pieces coming off. Note: Employee washing ice creeam scoop off at hand sink, All utensils must be properly washed at 3-compartment sink.

Critical: The country link on he hot dog roller was at 129°F and the taquito was at 50°F. Employees stated the items on the left side had just been put on the roller. There is nothing to advise public these are not ready to eat.

• Angilo’s Pizza, 442 S. Broadway St., Blanchester. May 24. Complaint/Follow-up. Critical: Received complaint “employee cooking pasta at her residence and bringing it in to facility to serve.” Spoke with shift manager regarding complaint. She stated all pasta comes in pre-cooked and is heated in pizza oven. Chowed me pasta in freezer units. All food served in the facility must be prepared in the facility. No cooking pasta anywhere but in the facility. The salad prep cooler: Sliced turkey 46°F, oranges 47°F, pickles 41°F and chicken salad 41V. All TCS foods must be kept cold at 41V of below to help reduce bacterial growth.

Salad prep cooler not able to maintain safe temperature.

• Streber’s Market, 299 South St., New Vienna. May 19. Violations corrected: Follow-up 2. Violations corrected: 3.2, 3.5, 4.4, 6.4. Thanks for cooperation.

• Duchess Shoppe, 2495 Rombach Ave., Wilmington. May 19. Follow-up. Violations corrected: 3.2, 4.1, 3.4, 6.4. Space observed between floor and bottom of exit door in back storage room.

• Blanchester Veterans Memorial Park, 933 SR 123 S, Blanchester. May 16.Critical: Hot dog, 123°F (crockpot). Hot TCS foods shall be maintained at 135°F or above to prevent pathogen growth that can cause illness.

Concession stand was closed (7 p.m.). Verification demonstrating employees are knowledgeable with when to report illness unavailable.

• Family Dollar, 640 Cherry St., Blanchester, May 31. Follow-up. There are a few tiles on the floor with corners broken. Ceiling tiles in Health & Beauty are damaged. All other previous violations have been corrected. Thank you.

• Speedway, 393 Locust St., Wilmington, May 31. Follow-up. The following violations have been corrected: 3.4, 4.4, 4.5 and 6.4. the side of the donut cabinet is broken, exposing the pressboard. Floors throughout the facility are dirty (?)/stained (?).
