Clinton County Voiture 992 recently awarded Wilmington High School graduate Averi Vance a $2,000 Jeanette Payne Nursing Scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year.

Averi was selected to receive this scholarship based on her numerous accomplishments including, member of the National Honor Society, Phi Delta Sigma, Interact, Student Council and other academic and extra curricular activities. She will begin her training this fall at Wright State University where she has been accepted to the Honors Program with a Major in Nursing.

The local group of veterans adopted the Forty & Eight’s Nurses Training Program as their signature effort upon the Voiture’s charter in 1984, and has been providing financial assistance to local individuals pursuing a degree in nursing since its inception.

Their efforts were greatly bolstered a number of years ago by the husband and family of lifelong nurse Jeanette Payne.

In honor of Mrs. Payne and in appreciation for the family’s support, the members renamed the nurses training scholarships, The Voiture 992 Jeanette Payne Memorial Nurses Training Scholarship.

To apply for a scholarship, Clinton County residents either accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program may send their resume to Paul Butler at [email protected].
