BLANCHESTER — At press time Friday night, the suspect in a Friday afternoon robbery of Peoples Bank in this village remained at large.

At about 1:30 p.m. Friday, the Peoples Bank on the 100 block of West Main Street was robbed. The suspect entered and left the bank on foot through the rear entrance, stated Blanchester Chief of Police Scott Reinbolt.

The suspect was last seen walking west away from the bank. He made off with cash in excess of $1,000.

The suspect wore a black T-shirt, a black ball cap, tan baggy pants, and wore a patch over one eye. He did not brandish a weapon, Reinbolt said.

Deputies from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area to assist, but the suspect was not immediately located. The Mason Police Department was called to the scene with a tracking dog, which was able to provide some insight on the suspect’s route away from the bank, according to the press release from Reinbolt.

An agent from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was processing the scene for physical evidence and Blanchester police officers were interviewing witnesses and viewing video from nearby businesses, stated the mid-afternoon release.

The same bank was robbed a year ago, in July 2016. No arrest has been made in that case. There is no information to indicate the cases are connected, the police chief stated.

Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call the police station at 937-783-4702.
