WASHINGTON C.H. — A former Fayette County woman was sentenced to one year of probation July 17 after pleading guilty to using her husband’s checks without permission.

Elizabeth A. Savage, 44, now of Beavercreek, plead guilty in June to forgery, a fourth-degree felony.

Savage will be required to check in periodically with the Fayette County Adult Probation Department during her one-year community control sanction.

According to incident reports filed with the case, Savage’s husband complained to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 23, 2016 that Savage had been using his checks but had temporarily moved out of the marital home.

Her husband reported she spent approximately $2,500 using his checkbook over five months. Savage was not a joint owner on the account with her husband but were married for 24 years, records said.

Savage was charged in November on 18 fifth-degree felony charges of forgery and theft and one fourth-degree felony charge.

In an agreement with the state June 15, Savage plead no contest to the single charge of forgery. Eighteen charges of theft and forgery in the fifth-degree were dismissed.
