Clinton County eatery inspection reports from Health Department

WILMINGTON — The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

The following restaurants or food service establishments were inspected recently and violations/comments include:

• Damon’s 1045 Eastside Drive, Wilmington, Sept. 14. There was an employee beverage on the prep counter with no lid. There were several towels lying around throughout the facility. Facility does not have irreversible thermometer of dishwasher labels to check temperature of dish machine. Walls behind the salad coolers were dirty with food “splash.” Note: Crockpots not commercial grade.

Critical: There was a container of Hersey syrups sitting at room temperature. Behind the bar, the OJ was dated 8/14. which is expired. In the grill line in the kitchen there were two dirty heating plates and one dirty skillet (both with food debris on them) sitting at room temperature.

Follow-up: Approx. Oct. 17.

• Sams Meats & Deli, 1209 Locust St., Wilmington, Sept. 12. Follow-up. All previous violations have been corrected. Thank you!

• Kroger, 1001 Cherry St., Blanchester, Sept. 7. Follow-up. Critical: BBQ chicken at 128°F to 130F (must be kept at 135F or above). Chicken removed and reheated and replaced in deeper pan.

Follow-up: Oct. 10.

• Dollar General, 662 W. Main St., Blanchester, Sept. 7. Follow-up. Observed debris in corner by beverage cooler. Walls severely damaged in dry storage (holes in wall). All parts of facility must be in good repair. All walls must be smooth and easily cleanable. (2nd Notice.)

• Beaugard’s Southern BBQ, 975 S. South St., Wilmington, Sept. 7. Critical: Pork butts in walk-in cooler 40-45°F (must be at 41°F or below). Broken countertop by the hand sink.

Follow-up: Oct. 10.

• Dairy Queen, 1093 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Sept. 7. Outbuilding ready for storage of paper goods. Everything looks good.

• Airborne Express, 145 Hunter Drive, Wilmington, Sept. 14. Vent hoods at the back of the kitchen had dust accumulation.

• Elks Lodge #797, 2541 SR 22 East, Wilmington, Sept. 14. Violations corrected: 3.4, 3.2, 4.1, 4.5, 6.4. Thank you. Level 2 certification in food protection unavailable.

• General Denver Hotel, 81 W. Main St., Wilmington, Sept. 14. There were small metal cups in the cucumbers and salsa and blue cheese crumbles.
