BLANCHESTER – The Blanchester junior varsity football team defeated Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 18-0 Saturday at Barbour Memorial Field.

Lucas Thacker had a fumble recovery that he turned into a 70-yard touchdown return. Also, Thacker forced two bad punts, had a sack and a tackle-for-loss, coach Brian Damewood said.

Austin Walker and Colt Conover both had two tackles-for-loss while Shane Garrett, Johnny Schirmer, Kadin Berwanger, Kyle Hopkins, Bryce Scalf and Trevor Chaney had one TFL each.

Logan Heitzman, Blake Richard and Carter Abbott had interceptions while Abbott, Hopkins, Berwanger and Schirmer had pass break-ups to keep the Eagles out of the end zone. Conover forced a fumble.

On offense, Blanchester scored on a hook and lateral in the second quarter. Conover threw a six-yard pass to Abbott who pitched to Richard to complete a 35-yard scoring play.

In the fourth quarter, Conover scored on a 51-yard run “that featured several broken tackles and a whole lot of determination from the Wildcats’ quarterback,” Damewood said.
