WILMINGTON — CMH Regional Health System continues its year-long series of community education events with a discussion of vascular disease on Friday, May 11 — led by double board certified Vascular Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Brian Santin, MD FACS RPVI.

Friday’s event is titled, “Vascular Disease Affects 12 Million Americans: Do I Have It?”

Attendees will learn more about vascular disease, including how arteries and veins can have adverse effects on a number of functions in the body, how leg swelling can be the result of poorly functioning veins, and how clogged arteries can result in a stroke.

The event will be at noon in the CMH Café Conference Rooms on the first floor by the cafeteria.

The event is free and open to the public. Boxed lunches will be provided.

This is the second event in this year’s series – the first was presented at Cape May by Dr. Andrea Manhart and covered peripheral neuropathy and essential tremor.

CMH CEO Greg Nielsen spoke to the importance of the community education event series.

“We’re excited to see that the community has taken an interest in these events, and we look to Friday’s discussion led by Dr. Santin,” said Nielsen. “Our medical staff members make this series possible each year, and bring so much expertise to this community — we hope that this has given community members an opportunity to learn more about their own health in a personal and accessible way.”
