BLANCHESTER — A woman carrying a knife faces multiple charges after she led police on a lengthy foot pursuit through the village before she was apprehended and arrested, according to Police Chief Scott Reinbolt.

In the late afternoon Friday, May 18, Blanchester police were called to 128 W. Burrough St. on a report of a trespasser. The trespasser fled prior to the officer’s arrival, but was identified as Kristin Roth, 33, with an “at large” address, said Reinbolt.

He said Roth was reportedly at Tom’s Express Mart, a convenience store at 7529 Fairground Road, where an officer went to speak with Roth, whose car was reportedly parked out front.

“She hid from the officer in the store, then fled,” said Reinbolt. “The officer pursued her for nearly an hour as she fled on foot through yards and alleys back toward the Burrough Street residence where her boyfriend resides.

“We are thankful for the numerous citizens who flagged down the officer and called dispatch to report Roth’s progress as she fled,” added Reinbolt. “He eventually found her hiding behind a shed at 114 E. Burrough St. Her location was pointed out by a teenager in the neighborhood, who told the officer Roth was armed with a knife.”

He said the officer apprehended Roth and found a knife with a 5-inch blade on a sheath on her belt.

He also checked her for warrants, and found she was wanted for jumping parole and had two nationwide felony arrest warrants on file, Reinbolt said.

She was taken into custody without incident and was taken to the Clinton County Jail, he said.
