The Blanchester Wildcats marching band performs year round for numerous school and community events as well as competitions.
The band participates in Ohio Music Education Association Marching Band and Concert Band events, according to band director David Wood. While the marching band consistently earns “Excellence” ratings, this past spring the concert band earned what may have been the first “Superior” rating in school history at the OMEA District 13 Large Group Adjudicated Event. This provided the concert band a trip to the state level event.
With that accomplishment, this season the Marching Wildcats look to make their first return to the state level since last appearing there in the 1990s.
Band members are not only involved in music but also take part in many other activities that include soccer, volleyball, tennis, track, softball, drama, FFA, academic team, and church youth groups.
This season’s competition show title is “The Crown.” The show presents a fictitious story of a people finding their crown wearer and defending the crown from outside forces.
Amy Lewis is the color guard advisor.
