Mr. and Mrs. Daniel A. Bowman of Wilmington announce the engagement of their daughter, Tara Louise, to 1st Lt. John Matthew Banning, son of Maj. (Ret.) John and Nancy Banning of Greer, S.C.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Regina Moore of Wilmington and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bowman of Hebron, Ohio. Her fiancée is the grandson of Sergeant Major Archie and Carolyn Lloyd of Somerset, Ky.

A 2008 graduate of Wilmington High School, Tara attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., graduating in 2012. She is presently a health and physical education teacher with the Boiling Springs, S.C. school system as well as the head coach of track and cross country.

Her fiancée graduated in 2011 from Furman University in Greenville, S.C. After college he commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. He is currently working as a project engineer at Palmetto Technology Group in Greenville, S.C.

The wedding will take place on Nov. 18, 2018 aboard the Carnival Fantasy Ship at sea.
