WILMINGTON — The following report is generated from incident reports provided by the Wilmington Police Department. All those arrested are presumed innocent until possibly found guilty in court. Charges may be dropped or changed in court.
Wilmington police recently processed the following reports:
• Emergency services responded to the 1-99 block of Jodie Lane at 1:09 a.m. on April 4 on a suspected heroin overdose. Police seized a bag with white powder and a drug kit, both listed as heroin-related. No further info was listed.
• Police arrested a 33-year-old Mt. Orab female and charged her with alleged persistent disorderly conduct after responding to a suspicious person report at the 100 block of North Wood Street at 9:14 p.m. on April 4. According to the report, a neighboring restaurant’s manager called and advised a female with a pink jacket, long brown curly hair, was asking employees for food and cigarettes. Upon arrival, the officer was speaking with the suspect who was warned in a prior incident not to disrupt the public and not to walk on public roadways. The suspect stated she was having a panic attack. “She was warned for kicking officers and advised to stand multiple times. Officers instructed her to control her breathing and assured her an ambulance was on the way,” the report states. It goes on to state the suspect, “sat near the curb to prevent any further medical complaints until the ambulance can arrive on scene. She continued pulling/pushing and having erratic movements. She admitted to smoking marijuana and stated she has taken ‘ice’ in the past. Although she presented signs of being under the influence, she could speak and understand when addressed but refused to listen to officers’ requests. ” The suspect was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital by the life squad.
• At 3:38 p.m. on April 1, a theft of medications from a residence on Locust Street was reported. Police spoke with the 68-year-old male victim who advised that his medications sent by the V.A. showed as arriving at his residence through the mail, but were not at his mailbox as per usual. He presented authorities his prescription from the V.A. for the missing medication (Acetaminophen), and a postal receipt showing the items had been scanned and delivered. The victim believes the suspect is a downstairs neighbor’s friend. The report states, “This theft occurred just after his arrival back to the area from jail, and his known drug problem along with the timing of the incident makes him a person of interest.” The victim was advised to have his medications held at the post office for a secure pickup and in order to prevent this from occurring in the future.
• Police arrested a 43-year-old female and charged with alleged assault after responding to a peacekeeping report at 8:58 p.m. on April 1 at a West Main Street residence. The report lists a 19-year-old female as the victim.
• At 12:03 a.m. on April 2, a 65-year-old female reported a small red air compressor was stolen from her backyard at the 300 block of South Wall Street.
• At 6 a.m. on April 2, police received a report of a sex offense that occurred in the city. A 20-year-old male is listed as a suspect.
• At 7:44 a.m. on April 2, police responded to a business on Rombach Avenue that had trucks broken into. Police spoke with a 41-year-old male foreman from Haines City, Florida who advised two of their service trucks had been broken into and items were missing. He advised the trucks had been parked since he was there on Sunday. The foreman advised they were missing four chainsaws and one climbing saddle.
• At 5:06 p.m. on April 3, an employee of a mental health/addiction facility reported a 78-year-old male hadn’t checked in since Friday. The employee advised that the apartment complex where the subject resides advised that his credit cards and sleeping bag are still there and he typically has them secure his cards prior to him leaving for a trip. They advised he was in an altercation at the apartments because he called someone a racial slur and that “they think that may have scared him and he could have wandered off.” The facility also advised that he is schizophrenic and also starting to show signs of dementia.
