NEW VIENNA — Starting on Monday, Oct. 7, you will be greeted by Dorothy and Toto and guided through Munchkin Land by following the Yellow Brick Road at the New Vienna Library.

But first you have to make it past the tornado and Miss Gulch on her bicycle. Then the Scarecrow will be waiting for you amongst the cornstalks while the Tin Man will be hoping you will add a heart for every book you read during their month-long theme. You’ll have to en‘courage’ the Cowardly Lion to not be afraid as you pass by on your way to The Emerald City where the wicked witch has been reduced to a melted puddle with her broom and bucket marking her place. And how did that happen? Was water the culprit of her ill-fated demise? Don’t miss the Wizard’s secret hideaway behind the green curtain.

At 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7 there will be fun, refreshments and an added treat at the New Vienna Library at 114 W. Main St., New Vienna. During the four-week program, they will feature such crafts as coloring scarecrow, tin man and cowardly lion masks.

All ages can participate in a reading challenge and earn extra stamps on their cards for answering Wizard of Oz trivia questions. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the program with free chances given to those who participate.
