WILMINGTON — Ron Rudduck spoke to the Wilmington Rotary Club which meets at noon on Mondays at Damon’s Restaurant for Brian Mudd, Clinton-Massie teacher and coach.
Mudd was unable to attend, but Rudduck spoke about his friendship with Brian and Brian’s wife, and Mudd’s life since being diagnosed with brain cancer. Mudd wrote a book titled “When Your Goliath Stands Up”. The book is a collection of text messages written about his treatment and spirituality.
Rudduck also spoke on behalf of the Joint Recreation District Levy, of which he is co-chair.
Rudduck said a key recommendation of the 2016 Clinton County Parks and Open Space Plan was to create a Joint Recreation District for the county in order to improve access/proximity to parks and to equitably and sustainably fund them. In addition, the Clinton County Planning Department and concerned citizens proposed constructing a community wellness center in Clinton County.
Rudduck is encouraging all Clinton County residents to vote yes on the 3-mil levy in November. The levy will provide approximately $3 million per year for 30 years to provide access and proximity to parks and recreational opportunities throughout the county, including a recreation center in Wilmington.
