WILMINGTON — The following information comes from incident reports provided by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. All those arrested are presumed innocent until possibly found guilty in court.

The sheriff’s office recently processed these reports:

• Deputies arrested a 40-year-old Wilmington male for alleged arson after an incident State Route 730 in Vernon Township at 6:37 p.m. on Nov. 15. According to the report, the suspect advised he was given permission to stay at the residence — which belonged to his deceased father. He told deputies his aunt, age 69, had power of attorney over the father’s estate. The property allegedly burned by the suspect were pieces of lawn furniture and “other belongings” belonging to the estate, the report stated. ‘The items were being burned so close to the residence the railing leading to the front door had been burned as well,” according to the report. The suspect advised that he knew his aunt was power of attorney and he did not consent to burn the items inside the residence. The suspect told deputies that since the items were his father’s he should be able to burn them if he wanted to. Deputies made contact with the aunt and she advised her nephew to stop burning items. The aunt wanted the suspect to stop living at the residence and wished to pursue charges. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Clinton County Jail.

• At 3 p.m. on Nov. 18, a female subject was found to have attempted to smuggle in a small plastic bottle wrapped in black tape that was in a body cavity when she was brought to jail by Clinton County Adult Probation. The report indicates drugs were in the bottle.

• At 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 18, a 45-year-old Green Township male advised his spouse assaulted him, possibly causing a laceration in his thumb. The incident took place at the victim’s residence in Green Township.

• At 7:19 p.m. on Nov. 10, deputies responded to the 1100 block of Laymon Road in New Vienna in reference to a theft. According to the report, a 27-year-old female resident advised someone entered her garage and removed her ATV.

• At 11:55 a.m. on Nov. 12, deputies completed the initial investigation of a theft where $507.77 was stolen from a 29-year-old Sabina male. An acquaintance of the victim is indicated as a suspect in the report.

• At 11:42 a.m. on Nov. 18, a 68-year-old male advised he was vehicle had been damaged at his residence on Orchard Circle in Jefferson Township.
