WILMINGTON — Wilmington City Schools recently received a donation from the local Amazon Air hub (KILN).

General Manager Assistant Holly Ibaugh presented the district with approximately $500 in food donations and $1,200 in cleaning supplies — including over 15,000 wipes!

School districts are facing unprecedented challenges as they look to reopen their schools this fall. One of those challenges is the necessary frequent cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces. The donation of cleaning supplies will help WCS reduce the spread of virus in their buildings.

The donation of food supplies will help provide food to families that are experiencing hardship and will help to reduce food insecurity in students.

WCS Superintendent Mindy McCarty-Stewart gratefully accepted the donations.

“This is a tremendous example of the generosity and compassion in our local community” stated McCarty-Stewart. “We are Hurricane Strong Together”.
