WILMINGTON — Scoring inside the first 30 seconds of the match, the Wilmington High School boys soccer never looked back en route to a 7-1 win over Western Brown Tuesday in SBAAC American Division action at Alumni Field.

Brady Vilvens continued to produce goals for the Hurricane, finding the back of the net shortly after kickoff and the match was never in question.

“This was a strong team effort and we did well to get out in front early,” WHS coach Imad El-Macharrafie said. “We had a couple of flat spots in each half but a commitment to the passing game and team defense carried us through.”

Vilvens finished with four goals. Jacob Romer had two goals and Caleb Macias add the other.

Macias also had two assists as did Trevor Billingsley. Matt Butcher assisted on a goal as well.

El-Macharrafie said the midfield quartet of Butcher, Romer, Macias and Caleb Reed “were exceptional” in the win.

In net, Collin Webber allowed his first goal of the season, but it was too little, too late for the Broncos.

Wilmington is 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the American Division. Western Brown falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The WHS reserve boys soccer team was a 6-0 winner. The young Hurricane also scored in the first 30 seconds of the match.
