43 senators failed test of courage

I was so very, very disappointed — and was literally aghast at the disloyalty to their oath of office and their oath as jurors — that was exhibited by the 43 Republican U.S. senators who voted to acquit former President Trump in the just-concluded Impeachment trial.

The hypocrisy and shamelessness of many (Mitch McConnell being the most egregious example) expressing agreement with every argument that was made by the U.S. House of Representatives Impeachment Managers in the trial — yet choosing to acquit former President Trump on a bogus technicality that was rejected earlier by a bi-partisan majority of the Senate — is abhorrent.

I now see in their decision to acquit why President John F. Kennedy’s book “Profiles in Courage” is such a thin book. Those 43 all failed the test of courage.

After seeing Senator Portman’s vote for acquittal, it is my hope that we will have a candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2022 who will show the kind of courage and will to fulfill the oath of office to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.” It will be a welcome change from his tenure.
