Sullivan highlights WC performance at Polar Bear Inv.

ADA — Kayli Sullivan headlined the Wilmington College women’s track and field team’s performance by winning three events at the Polar Bear Spring Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University (ONU) on Saturday.

Sullivan won the discus with a heave of 102’ 6”, the hammer throw with a hurl of 164’ 8” and the shot put with a mark of 38’ 4 3/4”. Teammate Megan Roell joined her teammate in scoring points for the team with a third-place finish in the discus (98’ 1”) and an 88’ 1” mark in the hammer throw. Other field finishes for the Fightin’ Quakers included Madison Dietz taking fourth in the triple jump (30’ 11 3/4”) and fifth in the long jump (15’ 7 1/2”).

In sprints and hurdles, Emma Burke placed fourth with a time of 1:02.92 and Lily Williford’s time of 17.69 seconds that earned her a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. In distance events, Wilmington had two individuals score for the team in the 3,000-meter run. Milena Wahl crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 10:59.73 while teammate Savannah Rhodes finished two spots behind Wahl and crossed the finish line in 12:04.71.

As a team, Wilmington finished third with 57 total points. The University of Mount Union won the meet with 275 points while host ONU finished runners-up with 168 points.

The Quakers head to Heidelberg University next weekend.
