Big year at state for East Clinton Great Oaks FFA

The state FFA Convention April 29-30 livestreamed and posted on Facebook due to COVID-19 regulations, but most festivities went on.

This year was a great year for the East Clinton Great Oaks FFA chapter. One team and many individuals were recognized for their achievements in the 2020-2021 school year.

The chapter’s Milk Quality and Products team was recognized for earning first place in the state, as was team captain Paige Bowman for earning an outstanding first place individually in the state for her second time.

Several members were recognized for their SAEs at the convention as well. Maggie Mathews and Mitchell Bean each won first place in the Dairy division and Equine division, respectively. Mitchell also earned third place in the Livestock division.

Other members recognized for outstanding SAE’s were: Wyatt Riddle, second place in the Outdoor Recreation division; Cody Chaney, third place in the Specialty Animal division; and Carter Carey, third place in the Swine division.

The chapter also was recognized for being a Gold rated chapter.

Sixteen students were recognized for receiving their State FFA Degree: Mitchell Bean, Katie Carey, Lydia Kessler, Brody Fisher, Jenna Stanley, Zach Vest, Carah Anteck, Myah Anteck, Van Frye, Anna Malone, Regan Walker, Evan Stewart, Cody Chaney, Lauren Parks, Bryston Roach and Josie Runk.

Three officers were recognized for earning gold medals in their book reports: Reporter Carah Anteck, Secretary Marci Ellis, and Treasurer Katie Carey all earned gold medals.

This year has been a great year for the East Clinton FFA chapter at the state level, and the chapter hopes to come back with even more recognition in the 2021-22 school year
