DAYTON — Blanchester pitchers struck out 13 and the Wildcats broke open a scoreless game late Saturday en route to an 8-0 victory over Lynchburg-Clay at Day-Air Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons.

Jacob Hamm had a pinch single in the fifth when Blanchester took a 2-0 lead. In the sixth, the Wildcats broke the game open when Nate Moore had a two-run pinch single to make it 4-0.

“What a great experience for the boys,” BHS head coach Aaron Lawson said. “The field was in phenomenal shape and everyone was first class. I feel very lucky we were able to get everyone into the game. It couldn’t have worked out any better.”

Adam Frump pitched six scoreless innings, striking out 10. Trenton Czaika struck out the side in the seventh.

“That was the outing we’ve been looking for out of Frump,” said Lawson. “He threw the team on his back today. He got ahead, threw both pitches for strikes, worked east and west, and made pitches to get out of jams. I hope he continues to build off this start.”

Reagan Burch had two hits and drove in a run. Czaika and Brody Rice had two RBI each.
