CLINTON COUNTY — The new “Connect 4 Clinton County” game night fundraiser brought in over $4,000 for the Clinton County Youth Council at the first monthly tournament July 22 thanks to a very generous turnout from the local business community.
Bragging rights go to Jason Walt who prevailed in first place, with Rachel Adkins and Jonathan Dawson placing second and third place respectively.
Connect 4 Clinton County organizes monthly fundraising tournaments of the popular family game, Connect 4. These events are held on the third Thursday evening of the month at the Elks 797 Lodge, 2593 Rombach Avenue in Wilmington.
Local businesses, non-profits, and community members are encouraged to enter the tournament with a $100 entry fee per player. A hundred percent of the entry fees are then awarded to a local non-profit each month.
“When you give of your time and/or money — the two things people are the most selfish with — that’s when real change happens,” exclaimed Clinton Becker, founder of Connect 4 Clinton County.
The next Connect 4 Clinton County tournament will be held on Thursday, August 19, and will benefit Clinton County CASA, a program that provides support to children who are caught in the legal system as a result of being the victim of abuse, neglect or dependency by their parents. Those interested in playing in the August 19 tournament should contact Clinton Becker at 937-728-4133. Registration occurs at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 19, with the games beginning at 6 p.m.
The Hasbro brand Connect 4 Game is a fun disc-dropping board game utilizing a grid and red or yellow discs. When you get four discs in a row you win, hence the name of the game.
