BHS volleyball drops SBAAC finale to Burg

The Blanchester High School volleyball team lost a heartbreaker to Williamsburg Thursday on Senior Night at BHS, 18-25, 25-21, 22-25, 26-24, 14-16, in SBAAC National Division competition.

The loss puts BHS at 11-11 overall and 6-6 in the National Division.

“The girls battled to the end against a much-improved Williamsburg team,” BHS coach Rick Seeling said.

Madison Creager had 12 points, four aces, nine kills and six digs for the Ladycats.

Brooklyn Bockstiegel had eight points, seven kills and two blocks. Hope Blankenbeckler finished with 10 points, four assists and three digs. Payton Johnson totaled seven points, four kills and two blocks.

Summer Schutte had five points, five kills, two blocks, four digs and 24 set assists. Makayla Lanham had five points, eight kills and 11 digs in a strong effort. Madison Winemiller had four points and two digs. Emma Falgner came up with 12 digs and Gracie Roy had seven digs. Desiree Snader had two digs.

On Oct. 9, Blanchester was defeated by Cincinnati Country Day Saturday 16-25, 21-25, 20-25.

Madison Winemiller had 10 points, an ace, two kills and four digs. Ainsley Whitaker had five points, five kills, three digs and two blocks. Madison Creager finished with four points, four kills and three digs. Emma Falgner totaled eight digs while Gracie Roy finished with six.

Brooklyn Bockstiegel had five kills, three digs and three points. Summer Schutte contributed two points, two aces, five kills, six digs and 18 set assists. Hope Blankenbeckler had two points, two digs and a kill. Payton Johnson had four kills and a block.

On , Oct. 7, on a night when cancer survivor Lori Conover was honored, Blanchester defeated Bethel-Tate 25-17, 24-26, 25-23, 25-20 at the BHS gym.

Also Summer Schutte was recognized for the 500th set assist of her BHS varsity career.

Coach Rick Seeling said the night was made possible by event coordinator Andrea Blankenbeckler and many volunteers.

Statistically, Gracie Roy had six digs and Emma Falgner totaled seven. Madison Winemiller had three points while Hope Blankenbeckler had three points and two digs. Madison Creager had 19 points, three aces, four kills and three digs.

Ainsley Whitaker finished with 10 points, seven kills and four blocks. Brooklyn Bockstiegel had nine points, three aces and six kills. Schutte recorded eight points, four kills, four digs, two blocks and 24 set assists. Makayla Lanham had three points, five kills and five digs.
