BEXLEY, Ohio — The Wilmington College women’s soccer team lost an Ohio Athletic Conference contest 3-0 at Capital University Wednesday evening.

In the first half, the Fightin’ Quakers were outshot 7-1. The Comets were able to quickly capitalize on their chances. In the 11th minute Avery Hart took a pass from Olivia Rotolo and neatly beat keeper Lauren Galloway to score her seventh goal of the season. Wilmington would go into the half down 1-0.

The Comets started start the second half in much the same way as the first. WC conceded a penalty kick on a foul in the box. Lexi Snider scored her second goal of the season on a low driving shot past Galloway. Not more than six minutes later, Hart again found the back of the net for Capital, her eighth goal of the season.

Galloway saved nine shots in the loss, Capital keeper Lauren White would save four shots and record the victory. The hosts held a 22-6 edge in total shots including a 12-4 margin in shots on goal.

Wilmington will host John Carroll for Senior Night 7 p.m. Saturday. Wilmington will need a victory and a bit of help to secure its second consecutive OAC tournament bid.
