WC volleyball closes season with victory

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Wilmington College volleyball team rebounded from a 25-14, 25-18, 25-22 Ohio Athletic Conference loss to John Carroll University to end the 2021 fall season on a high note by defeating Olivet College (Mich.) 25-19, 25-17, 25-20 in a tri-match at Fred Raizk Arena Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Streak defeated the Comets 3-1 in the middle match of the day.

In the loss to John Carroll,Wilmington featured a balanced attack as the trio of Sydney Geibel, Joy Bebe and Victoria Long all put down seven kills. Andie Dolven dished out 21 assists while Blake O’Brien turned in a career-high 34 digs.

In the victory over Olivet, Wilmington saved its best match for the last match of the season. The Quakers hit a season-high .248 attack percentage with Sofia Thomas (11) and Bebe (10) leading the way in kills. Just like in match one, Bebe was the most efficient, hitting a .500 clip while Long added nine kills. Dolven assisted on 37 kills while O’Brien had a 22-dig performance.

Wilmington finishes its 2021 fall season with a 4-24 overall record and an 0-9 mark in OAC competition.
