As veterans arrived at the Wilmington Christian Academy for a Veterans Day program, they were welcomed boisterously outdoors by kindergarteners through fifth-graders.

In the right foreground from left Wilmington Christian Academy (WCA) students Sydney Lagasse and Ashlynn Littrell lead the Pledge of Allegiance, while in the background some of the veterans who came to the WCA veterans program join the pledge.

Ray Souder, left, is presented the Clinton County Veterans Day Outstanding Veteran of the Year Award from Kelly Hopkins, right, who was the Veterans Day ceremony emcee and is a VFW 6710 Past All State Post Commander. Souder recently retired as Clinton County Veterans Service Commission director. The plaque reads: “In grateful recognition and appreciation for your years of outstanding service, concern and support of veterans’ issues.”

Jim Alcorn, U.S. Army SFC retired, was guest speaker for the Clinton County Veterans Day program. Alcorn is a service officer with the Clinton County Veterans Service Commission. Behind him from left are Valerie Rose, Ray Souder, Pastor Jim Rankin, and Kelly Hopkins.
