WILMINGTON — Wilmington High School congratulates the November Students of the Month:
English Department — Lily Abney
Lily shows up every day ready to learn. She is often a leader in class and encourages inclusivity during group work. Lily regularly exhibits patience with her peers and is willing to help any of her classmates should they need it. Her insightful comments during class often leads discussion and her questions further the understanding for all. She is truly an asset to our class and I can’t wait to see where her new skills take her this year.
Foreign Language — Gracie Sutton
Gracie Sutton is a joy to have in Spanish class. She uses class time wisely, comes to class prepared and on time, and asks great questions in class which help to guide discussions and assignments. In addition, Gracie is friendly, helpful and encouraging. She demonstrates enthusiasm when working with a partner or in a group, and volunteers to help in class when help is needed. Anytime she’s absent, she doesn’t hesitate to reach out to communicate her needs. Her success is due to having a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Keep up the great work, Gracie!
Ag Education — Bella Earley
Bella has been a wonderful addition to the ag department and the Wilmington FFA chapter. Bella is a leader in her class and her FFA activities. Bella always finishes her work and then goes out of her way to help others. Bella is a hard worker, she dedicated her time to memorizing all five paragraphs of the FFA creed. Bella always works with a positive attitude and is a role model to her peers.
Choir Department — Emily Vizcaya
Emily Viscaya is the Wilmington Choir Departments Student of the Month of November. She has been a model student in Wilmingtones and High School Chorale. She works diligently, sing out her alto part and has led classes in Mr. Hutcherson’s absence. She has been a leader even as a sophomore and models choral excellence with a positive attitude.
Theater — Kelly Carpenter
Kelly is in my Speech/Oral Communication class. Kelly participates and is always prepared for each class. Her assignments are well put together. Kelly is usually the first one to volunteer to present in front of the class. Her confidence grows with each speech she gives. Kelly is inquisitive and will often do extra research to answer some of her own questions. She is an inspiration to other students and a pleasure to have in class.
Math — Gavin Sheets
Gavin has been putting forth a huge amount of effort toward being successful this quarter. His assignments are being completed and turned in on time, and he works hard to be present at school every day. He’s made great improvements toward tuning out distractions that would derail his progress. Congratulations, Gavin!
Social Studies — Fiona Powell
Fiona Powell is the Social Studies Department Student of the Month for November. Fiona comes to class everyday prepared and ready to work. She always participates in class discussions and is always willing to help. She always is positive and offers insightful comments.
