BLANCHESTER — Three people — two juveniles in one vehicle and the elderly driver of the other — were transported to hospitals after a two-vehicle head-on crash Friday morning on Middleboro Road near Collins-Riley Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper James Brooks told the News Journal they were dispatched at 9:12 a.m. for a crash involving two juveniles “from the Blanchester area” in a 2012 Ford Focus sedan and an 82-year-old Morrow area man, Cecil Lumley, driving a 2008 Nissan Frontier pickup truck.

One of the juveniles was transported to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight, while the other juvenile and Lumley were transported via ambulance to Clinton Memorial Hospital. The Jaws of Life was used to extract the juveniles from the Ford Focus. Their names were not released by OSHP.

First responders from the Blanchester-Marion Fire Department, Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Middleboro Road near Collins-Riley Road. Minutes later, crews called for a medical helicopter to be dispatched as well as a second ambulance.

Trooper Brooks said the cause has not yet been determined and the crash remains under investigation.
