Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County is hosting its 26th annual golf outing Aug. 19 at Majestic Springs Golf Club on Todd’s Fork Road.
A luncheon starts at 11 a.m., with tee-off at noon.
Prizes will be awarded to the three teams with the lowest scores, and the team with the highest score. Registration is due Aug. 5.
A Habitat spokesperson said the fund-raising outing is critical to the group’s charitable efforts to build affordable, energy-efficient homes in Clinton County. Building costs have challenged the Habitat construction crew as they strive to serve their mission to build homes that low-income families can afford to pay for.
“The golf outing is a fun way for golfers to have a great day and contribute to a local organization that ensures new homeowners the opportunity to live in a simple, reliable home and contribute back to society as taxpaying owners,” stated a news release.
The construction crew is now working on Michigan Avenue to build a home for a single mom and her two children. This will be home number 45 built since starting the organization in 1995.
The team of Chad McLees, Jeremy McGraw, Kyle Miller and Bryce Bean won the tournament last season with a 50.
Volunteers managed to complete two homes for two families in 2021. Building costs have challenged the building committee’s goal to keep the homeowner’s repayment loan affordable. Support of the volunteers and donations from the community play a vital role in meeting this mission statement to build these energy efficient, affordable homes in Clinton County.
The Habitat ReStore is another way for non-golfers to support this valuable organization and keep reusable items out of our landfill. Business hours are Wednesday 4:30- 7:00 pm and Saturdays 10am -3:00 pm. The store is located at 1032 West Main Street near Houston’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Wilmington. The store has been show casing new and gently used items from the Pottery Barn as well as household, hardware, lawn and garden supplies donated by the community.
