The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.
Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

• Subway, 313 E. Washington St., Sabina, Aug. 23.
Critical: Handwashing sink behind register is leaking water when turned on and no paper towels. Dirty pizza cutter on counter behind make line. Facility is using knife-cleaning station again. Directions for this indicate using spray bottle, not tub with scrubbing bristles. Instructions for knife-cleaning station must be on hand prior to using. In walk-in cooler, 2 pans of chicken dated for use by Aug. 22. All foods must be dated for use within 7 days and product must be used or discarded by date on product.
Non-critical: No verification available that anyone is certified as food safety manager. Meat line hot holding unit down. All product being held on veggie line. Freezer unit has ice build-up on shelves, floor and freezer grate. Pizza sauce on front of 3-compartment sink. Black mildew/mold on walls/cove molding in walk-in cooler. 3-compartment sink is leaking. Kitchen floors are dirty around edges/walls. Kitchen floor tiles are broken. Walls around vegetable prep sink are dirty.

• Wendy’s, 1055 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Aug. 22. Follow-up.
Critical: On the service line: Sliced tomatoes 45°F; honey mustard sauce 52°F; shredded cheese 52°F; avocado 44°F; and pickles 45°F. All TCS (time-temperature controlled foods) must be kept cold at 41°F or below. (2nd Notice.) In walk-in cooler: hamburger for chili was not dated, hamburger crumbles dated Aug. 21, cheese sauce not dated. All foods must be dated for use within 7 days and food must be used by date on product or discarded. (2nd Notice.) Gnats by beverage box storage. (2nd Notice.)
Non-critical: Employees not wearing hair restraints. (2nd Notice.) Broken floor tiles in kitchen, entire tile missing by deep fryer and area filled with grease. (2nd Notice.)

• Ron’s Place, 126 S. Broadway, Blanchester. Aug. 24.
Critical: Gnats throughout the facility (restrooms, dry storage).
Non-critical: Several towels/wiping cloths throughout the kitchen. All towels must be stored in sanitizer solution when not in use, and use for wiping surfaces only. Ceiling in kitchen by hood unit in need of repair. Hole in ceiling by griddle covered with pressboard? Floor in kitchen has peeling paint. Floor in dry storage area cracked/broken.
• ABX Air-Main Market C, 145 Hunter Drive, Wilmington, Aug. 23. Complaint.
Received complaint “regarding ‘mold’ growing in coffee maker, food being out of date and expired license posted.”
Inspected food in refrigerated and frozen cases. Everything within proper date. Checked coffee machine, no evidence of any mold/mildew. Machine needs to be cleaned. New license needs to be displayed.
• Mediterranean Restaurant, 53 E. Main St., Wilmington, Aug. 23.
Non-critical: Employees not wearing hair restraints. Seal on freezer door has ice/front build-up at bottom of door. In freezer, using cardboard to cover racks. Please remove cardboard.
• Wilmington College Market C, 1875 Quaker Way, Wilmington, Aug. 23.
License issued. Ready to open.
• Wilmington Veterans Post #49, 140 E. Locust St., Wilmington, Aug. 23.
