WAYNESVILLE — Waynesville racked up 31 first half points on its way to blanking Blanchester 45-0 Friday.
Most of them came in a 6:35 stretch of the first and second quarters when the Spartans (2-1) built a 24-0.
Waynesville dented the scoreboard on its second drive when Matt Wilkerson hauled in a 15-yard pass from Blaise Sizer at the 4:16 mark of the opening quarter.
Connor Berrey made good on a 20-yard field goal attempt on the second play of the second quarter to make it 10-0.
His 38-yard scoop-and-score on the very next play from scrimmage put the Spartans up 17-0.
After another Blanchester three-and-out and 15-yard punt, Waynesville took possession at the Blan 40 and just needed four plays for another score, a Sizer 3-yard run.
Waynesville scored on its next drive when Alex Amburgy took a screen pass 19 yards to paydirt 5:07 before the intermission.
The entire second half had a running clock.
To make matters worse, BHS coach Jon Mulvihill said several players have been lost to injuries.
Waynesville scored on its first two second-half drives. A botched punt snap and incomplete pass that gave Waynesville possession at the Blan 37 led to Garrett Lundy 14-yard touchdown run at the 5:50 mark of the third quarter.
Amburgy scored again, 104 seconds later, on a 17-yard quarterback keeper, which followed a Blanchester interception.
The Wildcats drop to 1-2. They will face Norwood at home next Friday.
