WILMINGTON — Wilmington College will observe the time-honored ritual of Homecoming this Saturday with a full day of activities designed for the entire family.

This year, WC is combining Homecoming with Family Day and Alumni Reunion Weekend.

The community is invited to join students, alumni, faculty and staff in activities surrounding the Homecoming football game.

Starting at 10 a.m., Collett Mall will feature inflatable attractions, games and other family-friendly activities through 2 p.m. while food trucks will line Elm Street through 3 p.m.

The Greek Bed Races always offer a Homecoming highlight and a few laughs as wobbly wheels and whipping cream pies in the face are standard fare. These will be held at 11 a.m. at Withrow Circle at the corner of Douglas and College streets.

Kickoff for the Fightin’ Quakers’ football game with Otterbein is 2 p.m. Halftime festivities include the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen and introduction of the court, as well as the formal Athletic Hall of Fame induction.

This year, the College is using an online mechanism for purchasing tickets to WC’s sporting events.

Tickets, which are scanned from the fan’s phone at the entrance gates, are available for purchase at https://www.wilmingtonquakers.com/tickets. Note that WC students, faculty, staff and alumni have been alerted about how to receive special Homecoming game tickets.

Throughout the day, the College is hosting special activities for alumni and members of the campus community.

The Class of 1972 will receive their Quaker Emeriti Medallions at a special breakfast held in honor of the 50th reunion class. In the evening, a banquet is planned for this year’s reunion classes (1972, 1982, 1992 and 2002) and special alumni awards will be presented recognizing outstanding careers and service.

Also, Aggieville will again be set up at lunchtime for the College’s agriculture alumni to celebrate the program’s 75th anniversary with faculty, staff and current students.

Reunions are also planned for such affinity groups as multicultural alumni, former swim team members, fraternities and sororities.

The Homecoming Food Truck Alley will be in full display from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Elm Street outside Williams Stadium.
