Great not good enough: Perfect Scott beats Felicity

LEES CREEK — Sophomore Chloe Scott pitched a perfect game Tuesday as East Clinton blanked Felicity 5-0 Wednesday in SBAAC National Division softball.

The Astros remain red-hot with the win and move to 6-5 in all games and 3-1 in the National. Felicity is winless at 0-6. This is the third time this season the Cardinals have been held hitless in a game.

The pitching effort is believed to be the first no-hitter for East Clinton softball since March 25, 2017 when the Astros pitched two no-hitters in a doubleheader sweep of Shekinah Christian. Sierra Christan and McKenzie Campbell combined on a first game no-hitter then Christian went the distance in a second game no-hit effort.

Scott struggled to start the year, allowing 17 earned runs in 40 innings (2.975 earned run average). She walked 20 batters in that span and gave up 37 hits.

But since then the sophomore has picked up steam, hurling 35 innings, allowing four earned runs (0.80 ERA), 14 hits and two bases on balls. She struck on 15 batters on Wednesday and has 137 for the season.

Megan Hadley had two hits and rove in two runs for EC in the win. Savannah Tolle stole three bases.
