Men’s Basketball Final: Marietta 82, Wilmington College 69 (update photos)

WILMINGTON — Unable to hold an eight-point halftime lead, the Wilmington College men’s basketball team was defeated by Marietta 82-69 Saturday at Fred Raizk Arena.

Wilmington (5-4, 1-1) was led by Matthew Dugue who had a game-high 14 points for the Quakers. Domenic Farley had 13 points a game-high seven rebounds and a game-high eight assists.

Jayden Lewis had 11 points. Ben Golan also grabbed a game-best seven rebounds. Obed Achirem and Carson Miles dished out a WC best three steals.

Wilmington got off to a fast start, leading 6-0 and 18-9 but Marietta forged a 20-20 tie late in the first half. It was 29-29 with 2:43 to go in the half before the Quakers closed out strong with Dugue and Farley paving the way for a 40-32 halftime lead.

Marietta (6-2, 2-1) surged to the lead in the second half, 59-53, before Dugue and Farley again rallied Wilmington to a 59-59 deadlock. The Pioneers went back on top big 72-63 before Farley scored five straight points to get WC within 72-68. Marietta maintained its lead and closed out the OAC victory.

Wilmington travels to John Carroll University 2 p.m. Saturday to face league rival and the No. 1 Division III team in the nation on its home court.
