Women’s Basketball Final: Marietta 69, Wilmington College 45

MARIETTA — The Wilmington College women’s basketball team fell to 0-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference Saturday with a 69-45 loss at Marietta.

The Quakers (1-7) were led in scoring by freshman Stephanie Alstaetter’s 17 points. She also grabbed a team-best six rebounds.

Olivia Trusty had 13 points. Keetyn Hupp and Cassidy Lovett both grabbed five rebounds. ZahKyria Walker led WC with three assists. Lovett and Walker had three steals each.

Wilmington led early, 4-0, but once Marietta turned things around, the Pioneers never trailed. Wilmington hung close in the second period 17-15 sparked by Lovett’s five-point effort.

However WC trailed 30-20 at the intermission and was never able to get closer than seven the rest of the way.

The Quakers will play John Carroll University 2 p.m. Saturday at Fred Raizk Arena on Youth Day.
