SABINA — The Military Rodeo Cowboys Association (MRCA) held its World Finals in Witchita, Texas last week where they crowned 2016 East Clinton graduate, Joshua Jones, the 2024 MRCA Bull Riding World Champion.

Jones was on the wrestling team, ran cross-country for the Astros and was the 2016 recipient of the Brett Wightman Award. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and spent four years on active duty.

The MRCA is a non-profit made up of both active duty and military veterans. The mission of the organization is to honor military service by allowing its members to pursue their rodeo dreams.

Jones is currently a member of the National Guard in Jacksonville, NC where he resides with his wife, Kat.

He is the son of the late Shawn Jones and Keri and Shane Penwell, of New Antioch, and the grandson of Barb and Kerri Bowman, of Sabina, and Valerie and Jack Rose, of Wilmington.
