NEW CONCORD – The Wilmington College men’s basketball team fell behind by double digits early in the first half and couldn’t claw their way out of the hole in an 84-71 defeat against the Muskingum University Fighting Muskies Wednesday.

Domenic Farley led the team with 18 points, while Carson Miles continued his solid play of late with 12 points.

The Quakers fall to 8-14 overall this season and 4-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Muskies took a 20-9 lead less than nine minutes into the game, as the Quakers struggled from the start. Wilmington didn’t have their first made field goal until a Matthew Dugue layup snapped the skid nearly six minutes into the game.

The second half saw Muskingum jump back out to an 11-point lead, but the Quakers would absorb the blow and push back to within four at 48-44. This push was led by Miles.

However, just as soon as the Quakers tried to come back, the Muskies went back up by 10 and held on for the win.

Farley and Dugue tied for the team lead with five rebounds. Farley dished out a team-high five assists and led the team with three steals. Gavin Heimlich led the game with two blocks.

The Quakers host the Baldwin Wallace University 2 p.m. Saturday at Fred Raizk Arena.
