4 make District 15 senior, underclass girls teams

Four Clinton County girls basketball players earned first team honors in voting of District 15 girls basketball coaches.

Wilmington’s Elle Martin, a junior, and Miya Nance, a freshman, were named to the Division II Underclassmen Team.

Clinton-Masssie’s Alex Pence and Clinton-Massie’s Hannah Bowman were named to the Division II Senior Team.

Nance averaged 13.6 points for Wilmington this season. The 5-6 guard averaged 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 3.4 assists in her first varsity season for the Hurricane. She shot 41.5 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.

Martin averaged 10.4 points for WHS, along with 5.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 assists. She made 66.7 percent of her free throw attempts for the year, but finished by making nearly 80 percent from the line over her last 14 games.

Pence, a 5-4 guard, scored at a 7.1 point per game clip for the Falcons. She averaged 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.8 assists per game.

Bowman, a 5-6 guard who missed the first 10 games of the season with injury, averaged 12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She made 39 percent of her three-pointers this season.
