LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Wilmington College men’s lacrosse team defeated the Spalding Golden Eagles 14-9 Wednesday for its second win of the season.

Wilmington outshot Spalding 51-25 and won the ground ball battle 43-36.

“Very proud of how this group responded to a tough loss on the weekend and probably their toughest day of practice all spring (Tuesday),” WC head coach Dan Moriarty said. “They accepted the challenge and played with passion and I couldn’t be more excited about what that means for our future.”

Converted goalkeeper Cody Everly scored a game high five goals on 10 shots for Wilmington. Everly and Nick Roca had two assists each.

Goalkeeper Peyton Thompson saved seven of 16 shots on goal. Colin McLaughlin recovered 10 ground balls.

The Quakers will host the La Roche University Red Hawks 3 p.m. Saturday at Townsend Field.
