24 SPRING PREVIEW: Clinton-Massie lacrosse

Clinton-Massie returns 14 letter-winners to the varsity lacrosse team this spring but also sports a roster that includes eight freshmen.

The Falcons were 3-9 last season at the varsity level and 4-2 in junior varsity matches.

Dave Voisey is in his fourth season as varsity head coach. He will be assisted for the first time by Bob Olds.

Of the 14 returning players, Voisey said eight were starters last year.

James Brooks and Mason Martiniti were captains last season and return to lead the Falcons in 2024.

“This is my first senior class,” said Voisey. “I have been with these guys since the (middle school) program was formed and I started coaching them in eighth grade. This is the first year looking at all the players that we have good numbers from all of the classes.”

Voisey said one of the team goals this season is to win the Lacrosse Town Shootout Trophy against Wilmington. The Hurricane has won the last six meetings, the CM coach said.

“This year’s team looks bigger and faster than we have ever had,” he said. “We had a total of 29 kids sign up. Lacrosse in Clinton-Massie is growing, thanks to the feeder program that has been established.”
