Schwab (4 HR, 11 RBI) powers Quakers to doubleheader sweep

LEESBURG, Fla. – Powered by a four-homer, 11-RBI day from Samantha Schwab, the Wilmington College softball team finished its spring break trip Thursdasy with a pair of wins in The Spring Games.

Wilmington posted run-rule victories over Susquehanna University (9-1) and McDaniel College (11-3).

Schwab had a historic day for the Quakers, hitting three homeruns in the first game and another in the second game.

The Quakers are 5-5 this season and will be at home for the first time this year 3 p.m. Tuesday against Anderson University (Ind.).

In the first game against Susquehanna, Schwab became the first Quaker since Arianna Layne (April 17, 2021) to hit two homeruns in a game, and the first Quaker since at least 2013 to hit three homers in a game. She had seven RBI and scored three runs.

Judaea Wilson went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and three runs scored. McKenna Archey and Claire Scully both had two hits for Wilmington. Kori Cornett drew two walks in the contest.

Aiyana Hancock pitched a complete game for WC, allowing one unearned run and six hits while striking out five River Hawks.

In the second game against McDaniel, Samantha Schwab hit the first grand slam for the Quakersz since Hayley Suchland on March 12, 2020. Schwab also scored a run and walked.

Alasandra Spears led the Quakers with three hits and Wilson added two hits. They both scored two runs.

Hillary Huffer threw a complete game for the Quakers, allowing six hits while striking out seven.
