Quakers rally twice, sweep Hanover in softball twinbill

HANOVER, Ind. – The Wilmington College softball team completed a pair of seventh inning comebacks to come away with a doubleheader sweep of Hanover College Sunday afternoon.

Wilmington won game one 17-7 after an 11-run seventh inning doomed the Panthers before winning game two 8-6 after a four-run seventh inning.

Wilmington is now 7-5 overall this season and get right back on the field Monday at Ohio Wesleyan.

In the first game, Jocelyn Franz and Maddie Summers had three hits each. Samantha Schwab drive in four runs while Franz, Summers and Rachel Berry knocked in three each. Judaea Wilson had two RBI. The Quakers had six stolen bases in the game.

Aiyana Hancock struck out seven over six innings of work.

In the second game, Franz had three hits. Kori Cornett and Chloe Dorn drove in two runs each.

Hillary Huffer picked up her third win of the season in the circle with Laney Starbuck recording her first save of the season.

The Quakers travel to Delaware, Ohio and Ohio Wesleyan University Monday for a doubleheader with the Battling Bishops beginning at 3:30 p.m.
