No place like home

The last two weeks have brought with them two events that traditionally have meant significant changes in our lives. The first is the transition from Standard to Daylight Savings Time. I have generally made light of this saying that in thee the spring I lose an hour’s sleep that I won’t get back until November. The talk locally is that it may be the last time we change, but it still is a major event in the lives of most.

‘Things change, love does not’

The morning dawned as all other mornings. It was cool, in fact it was downright chilly. My mind endlessly traveled to 13 years ago. It had been sunny, with temps in the mid-70s. We could not possibly have had a day more perfect for our wedding.

Daily bread faith

Matthew 6:11- Give us today our daily bread.

The answer is Easter

Once upon a time, a grandpa was celebrating with his 4-year-old granddaughter. She was the apple of his eye, and whenever she and her Poppy could spend some time together, she was the center of his universe. Poppy loved to take his little granddaughter with him on his walks on the beach, and, not surprisingly, she loved to go with him as well.

Talk less, listen more

Matthew 6:10- May your kingdom come. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Lent: Chasing after Jesus

If you were to take a random sampling of people on almost any street in America today, including the streets of southern Ohio, and were to ask them one simple fill-in-the-blank question, what do you suppose the majority of answers would be? The question (or statement, as it were) is: Please fill in the blank: “The season of Lent is a time of ________________________.”

A welcome surprise box

“Austin, you may answer the knock on the door.”

Revival — Asbury? Me? You?

It has been an amazing phenomenon these past few weeks. I’m talking about the “Asbury Revival 2023.” Until now, I have been reluctant to say much about it for fear of somehow stopping it, although at the final chapel service, Asbury President Kevin Brown commented that “You really cannot stop something that you didn’t start.”

Whose Father?

Matthew 6:9- “Pray, then, in this way: Our Father in heaven, may your name be revered as holy.”

It’s starting to feel a bit like spring

It’s true. The sun is shining and it even feels a bit like spring!
