ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Natalie Lay’s long homerun wasn’t enough Thursday as Batavia defeated Clinton-Massie 6-3.
The SBAAC American Division softball result leaves the Lady Falcons at 9-8 overall and 4-6 in the division. Batavia is 13-13, 5-5.
Lay’s homer was her 10th of the season, a long blast to center field.
“The farthest hit ball I have seen on our field,” CM coach Matt Doyle said. “It actually landed on the doubles tennis court behind center field.”
Lay, Cassie Campbell, Luci Payne and Sara Hodge were honored as part of Senior Night.
“They have had many great games this season and in the past,” Doyle said.
Clinton-Massie batters struck out 14 times.
Lay drove in two runs while Sam Bowman had one RBI.
“We’ll have to improve to compete in the post-season,” Doyle said.
