WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH) announced this week that he will serve as chairman of the Subcommittee on Rules and Organization of the House for the 114th Congress.

“I look forward to working with Chairman Sessions and fellow members of the Rules Committee to advance an agenda that will put American families first,” Stivers said. “It’s a great honor and responsibility to help shape the policy and debate on the issues that matter most.”

The Subcommittee he will chair has jurisdiction over processes and procedures of the House, relations between the two houses of Congress, relations between Congress and the Judiciary, and internal operations of the House.

“It is a pleasure to announce Congressman Stivers as one of our two Rules Subcommittee chairmen,” Sessions said. “This assignment reflects his strengths and interests, as well as those who will serve on his subcommittee this Congress. Stivers is a valuable asset to our committee, and I look forward to working with him on the important issues we discuss in the Rules Committee each week.”

As a member of the standing House Committee on Rules, Stivers plays an important role in determining which bills reach the House Floor for a vote, as well as the rules for how the full body of the House will debate each bill.
