BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester reserve girls soccer team defeated Wilmington 4-0 Monday night in a match at Barbour Memorial Field.

BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said his squad came out with a “higher level of intensity and put together a complete game.”

Regan Ostermeier earned the shutout in goal for the Ladycats while freshman classmates Savanna Shank and Olivia Gundler played well defensively in front of her, Ballinger added.

Neither team scored through much of the first half. Blan controlled the ball, Ballinger said, and finally scored inside the final 10 minutes of the first half. Sophomore Katie Wilson found the back of the net off a corner kick from freshman Emily Hinkle.

Blanchester took a 2-0 lead into halftime when Hinkle’s through ball wound up on the foot of Brianna Wilson who beat the WHS goalkeeper.

Sally Schafer scored on a penalty kick in the second half and Brianna Wilson scored her second goal when she put home a rebound off an Allie Jordan shot, said Ballinger.
