ADAMS TOWNSHIP — With a brilliant sunset as a backdrop, a swift and efficient Clinton-Massie Falcons football team steamrolled McClain 70-7 Friday night at Frank Irelan Field.
With a large Homecoming crowd looking on, the mighty men of McSurley dominated from the outset and won their 35th straight South Central Ohio League game and 26th consecutive at FIF.
Hunter Fentress completed seven first half passes, with three going for touchdowns, as the Falcons sprinted to a 48-0 halftime lead. Fentress threw for 197 yards in the first half.
Not to be outdone, the Massie rushing attack was equally effective, piling up 166 yards and four touchdowns on just 11 attempts.
Davey Tunon had 56 yards on six carries and Fentress went 54 yards on one TD-scoring jaunt in the first quarter.
The purple and gold visitors from Highland Co. simply had no answer on either side of the ball in the first half.
Massie held McClain to -10 yards rushing and 28 passing in the first half. For the game, the Tigers managed just 98 yards on offense, with 80 coming on one play in the third quarter when quarterback Tristan Pitzer passed 80 yards to Alex Hollar for a touchdown.
Cole and Devon O’Bryon, along with Jackson Grigsby, Triston Hill and Christian Poynter, led the staunch Clinton-Massie defense.
The Falcons did not force any turnovers, so it was just line-up and get to the ball. And Aaron Sewer’s defensive charges did that and more.
Bryce Boyd was crowned the CM Homecoming King then caught a touchdown pass in the opening frame. Miquela Santoro was crowned Homecoming Queen.
