The Blanchester eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Amelia 34-30 in its first game of the season Monday night.

Brayden Sipple led Blanchester with 15 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals, three blocked shots and two assists.

Logan Heitzman had six points and Kyle Hopkins chipped in with five. Hunter Hartmann and Javen Meadows had three points each. Brody Rice tossed in two points and grabbed six rebounds. Rice and Bryce Highlander had two assists each, coach Brad Ballinger said.
